Flying out to Birmingham (UK) next Friday to meet Sara in person for the first time. And yes, everybody, I met her on the Internet, the place where I get everything nowadays!

[EN] Shape Shifter
I ordered a crosstrainer yesterday (it's a thing, not a
person); pretty impulsive, but that's how I can be
sometimes.
Earlier this year I bought a tour bike (Dutch text) to escape from my otherwise sedentary existence, but the Dutch weather being what it is (we just had a rather dismal summer and autumn/fall is already upon us) and my working hours being what they are, it wasn't always possible to get at least an hour of cycling in every day. Cycling in the dark is no fun anyway.
Going to a gym is not an option for me; Korperkultur is not an atmosphere that appeals to me at all. Moreover, they are quite a rip-off when you don't want to get caught in their overpriced Nautilus equipment, cooling down with an overpriced drink (I have Gatorade at the house, thank you) and slipping on other people's sweat.
All I need is a steady bit of exercise that doesn't depend on the weather or the time of day. Cycling has provided me with a basic condition that should provide the stepping stone for a more complete physical approach. All I have to do now is wait for the Dunlop XM-2 to arrive, sometime next week.
And the inevitable next step would be to finally stop smoking. I'll put a note on this blog to remind myself of that ..
