If you have some (or a lot of) CPU cycles to spare on your Windows or Linux desktops (sorry, apparently real operating systems like FreeBSD and MacOS X are still excluded), please consider joining the World Community Grid. You will donate your spare CPU cycles to projects like the FightAIDS@Home Project and the Human Proteome Project. All you have to do is download the software and install it. If you ever participated in the distributed Seti@Home project, you'll probably know how this works. You have a choice between donating all of your spare CPU cycles or only when your screensaver runs. It's up to you to jump on the grid and swell the ranks.
